Alone with a million bottles

As everyone knows, good wine is traditionally matured in cool cellars.

masterpiece of logistics
The structure erected or more accurately built into a hillside here in the Remstal area is a masterpiece of architecture and logistics. Over 1 million bottles of wine are stored to mature at a depth of 20 m on a total floor space of only 400 square metres. The whole system is managed on the FIFO principle, requiring only one operator for warehouse control and order picking. A flow storage system and two stacker cranes ensure smooth stacking, storage and removal of a diverse variety of wines and vintages. The oldest wine moves to the bottom, while the youngest is stored at the top just the way it should be in a wine cellar.

Advantages
• Storage and removal through the roof of the storage cellar.
• Computerised warehouse mangement with just one operator.
• 160 flow storage lanes for 2.720 pallets.
• Only 400 square metres of floor space
• Environmentally friendly building into the hillside.
• Reverse flow roller conveyor to the vertical conveyor for removal and transfer of stock.
