Controller in Wermelskirchen, Germany
I am the financial controller at our location in Wermelskirchen for our three companies Interroll Engineering GmbH, Interroll Fördertechnik GmbH and Interroll Holding GmbH.
I finished my apprenticeship to become an industrial business manager at Interroll in 1992 and then subsequently began my studies. Towards the end of my studies, I was then able to start working part-time at Interroll again as a student; after graduating, I began working at Interroll full-time at a professional level.
Although I had the opportunity to look around other firms during my studies, Interroll was always the company that left the greatest impression on me.
My work at Interroll is very exciting and extremely varied. Ongoing training is also important – especially for the finance department. The management team at Interroll have always encouraged and supported ongoing training. I've recently completed the Excel course offered by the Interroll Academy and I think it's really good to have opportunities like this.
As we operate on a global scale, I believe that collaborating with staff from other sites is extremely important. The introduction of SAP was a particularly important step for working together in this regard. Although we in the finance department work mainly at our local site, this provided us with the opportunity to get to know staff from other sites better. This personal contact has made it easier to work together and problems can usually be solved quickly.
Even though we're a large company, we foster a very positive culture of togetherness, and management are always willing to listen to our ideas. At Interroll, each and every member of staff is important, and open communication creates a productive working environment.
This is why I enjoy working here and would like to continue working at Interroll long into the future. This means actively working and not simply maintaining the status quo. After all, "a rolling stone gathers no moss".
I can relax in my free time; I've been going diving for a couple of years now as I love the sea and exploring underwater worlds. Unfortunately I always have to battle with seasickness, but I just have to get through it. I'm also a big football fan and my favourite team is Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Even though they never win anything, sadly, for me it's the taking part that counts.
